LARMS 2026 announces the confirmed speaker professor Luís Lamas, Principal Researcher and Head of the Modelling and Rock Mechanics Unit at the National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC), Lisbon, Portugal.

Professor Lamas has served as Secretary General of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) since 2003 and, since 2018, has convened the rock mechanics expert group revising Eurocode 7 – Geotechnical Design.

Organized by CBMR, in partnership with ABMS and the Brazilian National Group of the ISRM, the 10th Latin American Rock Mechanics Symposium (LARMS 2026) will take place August 25–28, 2026, in Brasília (DF), Brazil, jointly with the 22nd Brazilian Congress on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (Cobramseg).

With the theme "Rock Mechanics for a Sustainable Future: Innovation in Mining, Energy, and Infrastructure", the symposium will bring together specialists, researchers, and professionals to discuss technical advances and current challenges in the sector.
