LARMS 2026 announces the confirmed speaker Esteban Hormazábal, Managing Director and Corporate Consultant of Rock Mechanics Services at SRK Consulting (Chile) SpA, and Vice-President of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) for Latin America.

With over 30 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics, and geotechnical instrumentation, Hormazábal has led major open pit and underground mining projects in countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, South Africa, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and others. He is the author and co-author of more than 40 technical articles and a Fellow of the AusIMM.

Organized by CBMR, in partnership with ABMS and the Brazilian National Group of the ISRM, the 10th Latin American Rock Mechanics Symposium (LARMS 2026) will take place August 25–28, 2026, in Brasília (DF), Brazil, jointly with the 22nd Brazilian Congress on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (Cobramseg).

With the theme "Rock Mechanics for a Sustainable Future: Innovation in Mining, Energy, and Infrastructure", the symposium will bring together specialists, researchers, and professionals to discuss technical advances and current challenges in the sector.
